Permanent Makeup FAQ's

WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Permanent makeup is a procedure that replicates perfectly applied conventional makeup. Although most frequently applied for brows, lash enhancement, lipliner and full lip color, others of found the benefits of scalp pigmentation, scar camoflauge and more. This is done by implanting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. It is also known or referred to as Micro-Pigmentation, Microblading, Brow Embroidery and Cosmetic Tattooing.

WHO BENEFITS FROM PERMANENT MAKEUP?

In addition to looking fantastic, saving time and money, people with a busy schedule, athletic lifestyle, oily skin, conventional makeup allergies and those that are physically or visually challenged really enjoy the benefits of permanent makeup!

WHAT IS MICROSTROKING?

Microstroking is a technique done with a digital machine, where fine lines of pigment are implanted into the skin with a very fine nano needle to replicate the look of a hair for natural looking hairstoked eyebrows.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Topical anesthetics/numbing creams that are FDA approved are used to minimize discomfort. On a scale of 1 to 10 with “1” being no discomfort, most clients often experience a 1 to 3, however there are other factors such as menstrual cycles that can affect your level of sensitivity.

IS IT SAFE?

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), permanent cosmetics are safe when the technician is educated and follows all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines. However, permanent cosmetic technicians are not licensed or regulated in most states including Florida. Thus being said, the best assurance of safety is a technician that has received a certificate in the control of Blood Borne Pathogens and a permit issued by the Florida Health Department. A permit is only issued when the tattooist, business, and equipment are examined and approved by a health department inspector.

All needles should be individually wrapped, sterile, disposable, and for single use.  The procedure area should be sanitary with hand washing capabilities (running hot and cold water, soap, paper towels). Any products used during the procedure should be discarded afterward every client. Unfortunately, unless the technician and facility are inspected by the health department, there is no guarantee that the CDC and OSHA guidelines are followed.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Depending on a variety of factors, hair color, skin type, after-care, daily use of some chemical cleansers and lifestyle the longevity of the results will vary. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results and are recommended.
